Ceri has a great interest in the culture of design. Currently he is researching the culture of industrial design in Ireland, with a view to writing a PHD thesis in this area. The research undertakes investigation in to Irelands culture with craft and industrially produced artifacts, the governmental policy around supporting these industries and the future for production of objects on the island.

Coming from a family of teachers it is no surprise that Ceri has a great interest in this area of investigation. From the very beginning of his proffesional career he has mentored and coached a number of undergraduate and graduate designers and prior to taking up a full time role at DIT he was a guest lecturer at a number of universities and colleges. Ceri is particuarly interested in how we can improve design education in first and second level with a view to creating a greater number of creative problem solvers within the general population. Ceri is also investigating ways to improve teaching of practical and technical skills within third level education.
